The Story Behind the Western Revival

Why concho buckles, braided leather, and a desert palette are back at the heart of modern wardrobes — and what we look for when designing our Western collection.

Western fashion has come a long way from rodeos and dude ranches. Today, concho hardware, tooled leather, and silver studs are showing up everywhere from Brooklyn brunches to Parisian fashion weeks. The why is simple: it’s confident, it’s storied, it’s instantly recognizable.

At XZQTIVE, our Western collection draws from two sources — the silver-and-turquoise concho work of the American Southwest, and the burnished leather craftsmanship of Texas saddle makers. We balance these against modern silhouettes so the result is heritage-feel, not costume.

What Makes a Belt “Western”

Three signals: statement buckle (concho, scalloped, or sculptural metalwork), tooled or embossed leather (floral, basketweave, or geometric), and a color palette of desert browns, sun-bleached white, and turquoise accents.

You don’t need to wear all three at once. A single concho buckle on plain dark leather pairs effortlessly with a black slip dress or a white tee. That’s the look we keep returning to.
